Wee Witch Studios is the creative expression of Katie Balcuns (she/her), a Chinese-American ceramicist based in NY. Katie creates one-of-a-kind ceramics that have a playful vibe to them. Nature and her background have inspired much of her work, with an emphasis on the nostalgia of growing up in a beach town, as well as the little joys of everyday life.

Through both illustration and ceramics, Katie creates trinkets and accessories that feel personal, comforting, and full of character. Each piece is made with care and a touch of whimsy, meant to capture small, joyful moments that might otherwise go unnoticed. You’ll find nods to traditional Chinese forms and motifs, as well as organic textures and forms of sand, sea, and stone. Whether she’s painting, sculpting, or experimenting with new forms of expression, her goal is simple: to make art that brings people a little bit of wonder and warmth.

Wee Witch Studios ceramics are made in small batches using primarily porcelain & stoneware. Pieces often feature designs with colored glazes on a mix of smooth, wheel-thrown silhouettes and organically hand-built vessels.

Pieces are made entirely by hand, and no two are exactly alike—each one carries its own unique variations.
